The Redding #10 shell holder is engineered for cartridges with a .378″ rim diameter. Because the .223 Remington is a small-base cartridge often reloaded in high volumes, Redding uses a specialized heat-treatment process to ensure the “claws” of the holder do not wear or spread over time.

A key feature of the Redding design is the .125″ deck height (the distance from the case floor to the top of the holder). Redding maintains this measurement to within +/- .0005″, which is critical for reloaders using a “hard cam-over” technique to set headspace. The internal radius is polished to allow cases to slide in smoothly, while the black oxide finish protects the tool from rust in humid environments.
