Description
The Recknagel 00057-0350 is the specialized counterpart to a standard through-hole tap. Because M3.5 is a common thread for European scope mounts and sling swivels, you often encounter holes drilled only partially into the steel. Using a standard tap in these situations risks “compacting” the chips at the bottom, leading to broken tools or stripped threads.
This tap features a spiral flute that acts like a drill bit to evacuate shavings toward the handle. This allows you to thread much closer to the bottom of the hole than a traditional taper tap. Made from high-grade HSS-E (Cobalt) or specialized tool steel, it is tough enough to handle the hardened alloys found in modern rifle receivers.
