Description

The Steyr AUG Z A3 SA SE is a civilian semi-automatic variant of the legendary AUG rifle platform developed by Steyr Arms. It utilizes the AUG’s signature bullpup configuration, where the action and magazine are positioned behind the trigger. This design allows the rifle to maintain a full-length barrel while keeping the overall weapon compact, improving maneuverability without sacrificing ballistic performance.

This variant is chambered in .223 Remington / 5.56×45 mm and equipped with a 417 mm (16.4″) cold hammer-forged barrel with chrome-lined bore and chamber for durability and accuracy. The rifle operates using a gas-operated rotating bolt system, a design known for reliability and consistent performance in demanding conditions.

The SE (Special Edition) configuration differs from the standard AUG A3 SA by replacing the flat-top Picatinny rail with a traditional AUG carrying handle featuring an integrated optical sight. This preserves the iconic AUG appearance while maintaining modern functionality. Additional Picatinny rails at the 3, 6, and 12-o’clock positions allow the mounting of accessories such as lights, lasers, and additional optics.

The rifle uses detachable translucent polymer magazines typically available in 9, 30, or 42-round capacities, and with the 417 mm barrel the rifle maintains an overall length of approximately 702 mm, weighing around 3.3–3.4 kg.
