The Steyr CL II Varmint is a high-performance bolt-action rifle chambered in .223 Remington, featuring a 558 mm (22″) heavy barrel with a 5/8-24 UNEF thread. Equipped with a Forward Set Trigger (FST), a PVD-coated bolt with a Pear-shaped handle, and an SX synthetic stock, it provides elite accuracy and durability without open sights.
Description
The Steyr CL II Varmint is engineered for absolute stability. The 558 mm heavy-contour barrel is cold-hammer-forged for extreme thermal stability, ensuring consistent groups during high-volume shooting sessions. This model features a “clean barrel” (without vision sights) to optimize the mounting of high-magnification optics. The muzzle is factory-threaded to 5/8-24 UNEF, allowing for a wide range of standard American muzzle devices and suppressors.
The mechanical interface is highly specialized: the PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) coated bolt offers a diamond-hard, low-friction surface for lightning-fast cycling, enhanced by a Pear-shaped bolt handle for a positive grip. The Forward Set Trigger (Kombination trigger) provides a crisp hunting pull that can be pushed forward to engage a precision “hair trigger” mode. Bedded in the SX synthetic stock with its integrated aluminum bedding block, this rifle remains immune to weather-induced point-of-impact shifts.
