The Bell & Carlson 2948 series is part of the company’s Medalist-style composite stock lineup, designed for precision and hunting rifles using the Mauser 98 large-ring bolt-action system. These stocks are manufactured from hand-laid fiberglass, Kevlar, and epoxy composites, creating a strong and weather-resistant structure suitable for demanding field conditions.

A key feature of Bell & Carlson composite stocks is the integral CNC-machined aluminum bedding block embedded into the stock. This system provides solid metal-to-metal contact between the rifle action and the stock, improving consistency and accuracy while often eliminating the need for additional bedding work.

The varmint/tactical profile includes a wider fore-end designed for improved stability when shooting from a bipod, rest, or bench. The stock is typically configured to allow free-floating heavy barrels, which helps prevent barrel contact with the stock and contributes to consistent shot placement.

The 2948-26 version is finished in Desert Tan, a non-spiderweb solid finish commonly used in Bell & Carlson’s finish catalog.
