The Bell & Carlson 2948 series stocks are designed as precision replacement stocks for rifles built on the Mauser 98 action, one of the most widely used bolt-action rifle platforms. The stock is constructed from a proprietary hand-laid composite blend of fiberglass, Kevlar, and epoxy, producing a durable and weather-resistant structure suitable for hunting, tactical, or precision shooting environments.

A CNC-machined aluminum bedding block is molded into the stock to provide solid contact between the rifle action and the stock. This bedding system enhances stability and accuracy while eliminating the need for traditional glass bedding in many cases.

The varmint/tactical profile features a wider fore-end for improved support when shooting from a bipod or rest. The design helps maintain consistent barrel alignment and allows a free-floating heavy barrel, reducing contact with the stock and improving shot consistency.

The 2948-23 version is finished in gray with a black spider-web texture, a Bell & Carlson finish style that provides both durability and improved grip in field conditions. The stock typically includes sling swivel studs and a Pachmayr recoil pad for comfort and usability.
