The Bell & Carlson 2948 series is designed as a precision replacement stock for rifles built on the Mauser 98 bolt-action system. These stocks are manufactured from a proprietary composite structure combining fiberglass reinforcement and structural resins, creating a rigid and weather-resistant platform suitable for hunting or tactical shooting applications.

A key feature of the Medalist™ stock design is the integral aluminum bedding block system. This CNC-machined aluminum block is molded into the stock and extends through the action area, ensuring precise alignment between the rifle action and the stock while reducing flex and improving accuracy.

The varmint/tactical design includes a wider fore-end that provides improved stability when shooting from a bipod, benchrest, or other supported positions. The stock is typically configured with a free-floating heavy barrel channel, which prevents the barrel from contacting the stock and helps maintain consistent shot placement.

The 2948-97 variant features an olive green base color with black spiderweb texture, a finish option offered within Bell & Carlson’s lineup to improve grip and durability in field conditions.
