The Bell & Carlson 2948 series stocks are engineered as precision replacement stocks for rifles built on the Mauser 98 bolt-action platform, one of the most widely used rifle actions in sporting and tactical firearms. These stocks are constructed from a proprietary composite structure combining hand-laid fiberglass, Kevlar, and epoxy resins, producing a durable and weather-resistant platform suitable for hunting or precision shooting.

A key feature of Bell & Carlson’s Medalist-style stocks is the integral CNC-machined aluminum bedding block embedded in the stock. This bedding system provides consistent metal-to-metal contact between the rifle action and the stock, helping improve accuracy and reducing the need for additional bedding work.

The varmint/tactical profile includes a wide fore-end designed for stable shooting when using a bipod, sandbag, or benchrest. The barrel channel typically allows a free-floating heavy or varmint-profile barrel, preventing stock contact that could affect shot consistency.

The 2948-30 version features a tan base finish with black spiderweb texture, providing a durable non-slip surface and distinctive tactical appearance. Bell & Carlson offers many color variants of the same stock model, including camo and spiderweb finishes.
