The Opinel No. 08 (OP628) is the direct descendant of the original pocket knife created by Joseph Opinel in 1890. It features a Sandvik 12C27M stainless steel blade, known for its exceptional anti-corrosive properties and ease of sharpening. The blade maintains the traditional “Yatagan” profile—curved with a pointed tip—which excels at both slicing and precision work.

The handle is carved from durable French Beechwood, finished with a protective varnish. This specific SKU (OP628) comes equipped with a leather lace (lanyard), allowing the knife to be easily hung from a belt loop, carabiner, or backpack. Like all Opinel knives from No. 06 and up, it features the Virobloc® safety ring, which locks the blade both open for safe use and closed for safe transport.
