The Redding Micrometer Adjustable Taper Crimping Die for .223 Remington (31111) is a specialized tool designed to provide the ultimate level of control over the final stage of the reloading process. While most .223 dies use a roll crimp, this Taper Crimp die is specifically engineered to improve feeding and reliability in semi-automatic rifles like the AR-15.

Description
The Redding 31111 solves the common problem of inconsistent crimp pressure. In semi-automatic platforms, a slight taper crimp is often desired to ensure the bullet doesn’t move under the recoil of the magazine or the “slam” of the bolt, yet a traditional roll crimp can often buckle the thin shoulder of a .223 case.
This die applies pressure straight inward, “squeezing” the neck against the bullet. The Micrometer head allows you to dial in the exact amount of tension required. If you find that one brand of brass is slightly thinner than another, you can adjust the micrometer by a few thousandths to maintain the same grip. This is a standalone die and does not perform seating or sizing functions.
