The Steyr CL II Varmint is a specialized precision rifle chambered in .308 Winchester, featuring a 558 mm (22″) heavy-profile barrel with a 5/8-24 UNEF thread. Equipped with a Forward Set Trigger (FST), a PVD-coated bolt with a Pear-shaped handle, and an SX synthetic stock, it delivers absolute stability and reliability without open sights.
Description
The Steyr CL II Varmint is built for shooters who require consistent accuracy during sustained strings of fire. The 558 mm heavy barrel (MTG – Muzzle Threaded G-profile) is cold-hammer-forged for extreme thermal stability and is finished without open sights to allow for low-profile mounting of high-magnification optics. The muzzle is factory-threaded to 5/8-24 UNEF, the global standard for high-performance muzzle brakes and suppressors.
The rifle features Steyr’s high-performance PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) coated bolt, providing a diamond-hard, low-friction surface that remains glass-smooth even in dusty or freezing conditions. The Pear-shaped bolt handle offers superior leverage for rapid cycling. Precision is managed by the Forward Set Trigger (Kombination trigger), allowing for a standard crisp pull or a light “hair trigger” mode. Housed in the SX synthetic stock with its integrated aluminum bedding block, the rifle is immune to environmental warping and point-of-impact shifts.
