The Steyr CL II Mountain is designed for the modern alpine hunter and predator specialist who requires a light, fast-handling rifle without the visual obstruction of iron sights. Known as the “Goiserer” variant, it utilizes a shortened 20-inch barrel that provides superior balance for stalking in thick cover or steep terrain. By omitting the iron sights, Steyr provides a streamlined barrel profile that allows for lower optic mounting and a completely unobstructed field of view.

The rifle is built around the Safe Bolt System (SBS), which features a 3-position roller safety and a specialized bolt design that ensures smooth operation in extreme weather. This specific variant is housed in a Grade 2 European Walnut stock featuring a traditional Bavarian cheek piece and laser-cut fish-scale checkering.
