By piercing the cleaning patch with the spear tip, the patch is held firmly as it travels through the bore, preventing it from bunching up or falling off. This ensures that the solvent-soaked patch makes full contact with the lands and grooves of the rifling.

Because it is made from solid brass, it is softer than barrel steel, ensuring that it will not scratch or damage the crown or rifling of your firearm. While brass jags can occasionally give a “false positive” blue tint when used with aggressive copper solvents (due to the copper content in brass), they remain the industry standard for durability and structural integrity. Each jag is precisely tracked to caliber specifications to provide the optimal amount of pressure against the bore walls.
