A butt pad can help by softening the blow. A butt pad’s coating prevents the buttstock from slipping in your shoulder, ensuring a consistent shotgun position, which improves eye-hand coordination. Many shooters often seek out a slippery butt pad, thinking it will compensate for a sloppy shoulder position.

A slippery butt plate means the gun will move between shots. This gun movement is the most common cause of bumps, bruises, and missed shots on the second shot at clay pigeon range or in the field.

The butt pad is adjustable: height ±20 mm, angle adjustment 360°, straight, for smoothbore and rifled weapons with a metal spacer. For best results, installation by a gunsmith is recommended.
