In a standard reloading die, the expander ball can often create significant drag as it is pulled through the resized neck, especially if the brass is dry or has significant carbon buildup. This “drag” can pull the neck off-center relative to the case body. The 16307 addresses this with several design improvements:

Advanced Geometry: The elongated taper allows the button to enter the case neck gradually. Instead of a sudden “pop” through the neck, the 16307 wedges its way through smoothly, centering the neck as it expands it.

Concentricity Benefits: By reducing the vertical force required to expand the neck, there is less stress on the case shoulder. This results in lower runout (straighter cartridges), which directly translates to better accuracy on target.

Reduced Brass Fatigue: The smoother transition causes less work-hardening of the brass at the case mouth, which can help extend the number of firings you get before the necks begin to split.

Compatibility: This button is a direct replacement for the standard expander on Redding Full-Length and Neck Sizing decapping rods.
